We built WAYMIO because we wanted a way to coordinate with friends without sacrificing our privacy to constant background location sharing.
Trip-Scoped Sharing
Your location is only shared while the trip is active. The moment you arrive at the destination, or explicitly leave the trip, your location sharing stops immediately.
No Background Stalking
Unlike other tracking apps, WAYMIO is not designed to run silently in the background 24/7. It's a tool for a specific event, not a surveillance system.
Data Minimization
We only collect the absolute minimum data required to render the live map for your friends. Your location history is not sold to advertisers.
Secure Infrastructure
All location data is transmitted securely over encrypted websockets. Only the authenticated members of your specific trip can access the coordinates.

1. Information We Collect
When you use WAYMIO, we temporarily collect your real-time location data (GPS coordinates) to facilitate the core feature of the application: showing your ETA and route to other trip members. This data is only collected while you are actively participating in a trip.
2. How We Use Information
Your location data is strictly used to render the live map and calculate arrival times for your friends within the same trip session. We do not use this data for targeted advertising, nor do we build persistent profiles of your movement.
3. Data Retention
High-frequency location pings are ephemeral and are not stored in our database long-term. We may store the final arrival timestamp to complete the trip history log, but the minute-by-minute path you took is discarded once the trip is marked as completed.
4. Your Consent
By joining a trip via an invite link, you explicitly grant the browser permission to access your location and share it with WAYMIO's servers. You can revoke this permission at any time via your browser or OS settings.
